Claude Larochelle to run for Laval mayor

Claude Larochelle, an engineer by training and municipal councillor since 2017, will run for mayor of Laval on behalf of Parti Laval in the November 2, 2025 election. He made the announcement Tuesday morning, at a press conference during which the party also launched a major advertising campaign and introduced its two campaign co-chairs: Louise Lortie, Marc-Aurèle-Fortin councillor and last president of the Laval School Board, and Francine Charbonneau, former Laval MNA and minister.

Focus on experience and efficiency

Surrounded by several members of his team, and two experienced politicians, Ms. Lortie and Ms. Charbonneau, Claude Larochelle made his candidacy official.

"Many people tell me they no longer recognize their city, that it's slipping away from them. Laval deserves better. We need a mayor who knows his files, who isn't there to put on a show, but to deliver. I'm running to make Laval work for real: to make it safe, affordable and accessible. Not just beautiful on paper," says the candidate.

"I've been in politics long enough to recognize someone who's ready. Claude Larochelle is. He's not in it for the glory or the show. He's here to do the real work, the work that actually improves people's lives. I think that's going to do a lot of good," adds Ms. Charbonneau.

Flat, flat, flat, but effective

In a political landscape that is often too serious, Parti Laval has chosen humor and self-mockery. With its slogan "Claude Larochelle. Flat, flat, flat, but effective"The political party is betting on a bold campaign to talk about its priorities: public finances, road safety, sewers and aqueducts, and local infrastructure.

"If the Boyer administration invests in showcases, future dreams and pharaonic projects to put Laval on the mapI promise the opposite: I'm going to work for the essentials and for the real, everyday reality of our neighborhoods. It may sound boring... but that's what's needed to get Laval back on track. Efficiency, not showmanship," concludes Claude Larochelle.
