Parti Laval - Team Larochelle presents its commitments for coherent, safe and accessible mobility

Municipal elections | Parti Laval - Team Larochelle presents its commitments for coherent, safe and accessible mobility

Laval, Wednesday, October 15, 2025
- After presenting its commitments to safety in our streets and neighborhoods, local infrastructure, water and flood infrastructures, and municipal finances, Parti Laval - Équipe Larochelle today unveils its commitments to mobility. The political party of mayoral candidate Claude Larochelle announced that it wants to offer Laval residents "smoother, safer and more accessible travel, whatever their mode of transport." To relieve traffic congestion in Laval and improve the fluidity of travel for all, Parti Laval - Équipe Larochelle's program proposes, among other things, to re-evaluate the entire road, pedestrian and bicycle network, revise public transit schedules and frequency, deploy 100 new bus shelters and implement a new, more efficient snow-clearing strategy, including real-time communication with citizens. "Mobility must no longer be an obstacle to everyday life. After 12 years of inaction, Laval is congested, underserved and disorganized. Solutions are improvised and disconnected from reality on the ground. We need to review the entire network, especially the pedestrian and cycling network, to make it coherent and efficient. We're going to take action so that every citizen can get around his or her city efficiently," declared Mr. Larochelle.

Rethinking mobility to make getting around easier

According to Parti Laval - Équipe Larochelle, mobility must be rethought to reduce travel times for all road users. "What we want at Parti Laval is to really improve the experience of public transit users while easing congestion in Laval. To achieve this, we need to rethink mobility, do more to make our networks more efficient and safer, and ensure that cohabitation is optimal. In recent years, Mayor Boyer's party has improvised network development. There's a lack of sidewalks, and dangerous bike paths are sprouting up all over the place without being interconnected. We're going to overhaul that, improve public transit and winter snow clearing operations, while supporting structuring projects that will help relieve Laval's traffic congestion. That's what it means to take care of real business in Laval," asserted Claude Larochelle.

In its program, Parti Laval - Équipe Larochelle pledges to take action for mobility with several detailed proposals:

  • Complete re-evaluation of bike paths, sidewalks, shared lanes and pedestrian zones to create a coherent, better thought-out and safer network;
  • Implement a more efficient and equitable snow clearing strategy, including real-time communication with citizens;
  • Strategic review of public transit schedules and frequencies, for more accessible and inclusive mobility;
  • Installation of 100 modern, accessible and safe bus shelters throughout the region;
  • Active support for metro and REM projects, and launch of an east-west mass transit project to link major residential and employment hubs.

"While Mayor Boyer's party proposes to continue multiplying improvised projects, we propose coherent planning and tangible results: a responsible and efficient administration, safe sidewalks, buses on time, shorter commutes, clear streets and a logical, less congested network. Laval deserves better than piecemeal management, and we're ready to get down to business," concludes Mr. Larochelle.
