Three new candidates join Parti Laval

Municipal elections | Three new candidates join Parti Laval

Laval, Friday, July 18, 2025 - Claude Larochelle, leader of Parti Laval and candidate for mayor, this morning announced three new candidates for the November 2 municipal election. This third announcement brings to 12 the number of candidates announced by the political party, which says it wants to take care of "real business". Claude Larochelle's team is officially enlarged with the addition of Simon-Nicolas Grandmaître in Champfleury, Liria Serrano in Vimont and Stéphane Bélanger in Saint-Bruno. "I'm proud to present exceptional candidates to the people of Laval. They are real, grounded people who are here for the right reasons and who embody confidence and rigor. They know what needs to be done and are ready to give their all to get the job done: taking action on safety, improving basic services, and being there for people. That's Parti Laval," explains Mr. Larochelle.

Simon-Nicolas Grandmaitre to succeed Claude Larochelle in Champfleury

Formerly known as Fabreville, the Champfleury district represented, after Michel Trottier, by the leader of Parti Laval for the past 8 years, has been entrusted to Simon-Nicolas Grandmaître, Deputy Director of the Opposition Cabinet and secretary to the party's Board of Directors for many years. A professional in strategic communications and citizen mobilization, Mr. Grandmaître has been active in politics for over 15 years, at municipal, provincial and federal levels. A long-time associate of outgoing councillor Claude Larochelle, he has been actively involved in Champfleury since 2018, and has extensive knowledge of the city's operations and municipal issues.

The young father of two, who is also vice-president of CPE La Relève and a member of the Fabreville Knights of Columbus, says he would like to continue the work undertaken in the district, focusing on road safety, essential infrastructures such as the sewer and water systems, and community infrastructures. "As a father of two young children, what I want is for my streets to be safe, for my neighbors and family not to be afraid every time there's a heavy rainstorm, and for our infrastructures to hold up. What I want is to do more, more for Champfleury and for all the families who, like mine, just want to live in a safe, well-maintained neighbourhood," says Simon-Nicolas Grandmaître.

For a city that takes safety seriously: Liria Serrano and Stéphane Bélanger

In Vimont, Liria Serrano, who devoted 27 years of her life to public service as a policewoman, including becoming the first woman to hold this position in Deux-Montagnes, will carry the colors of Parti Laval - Équipe Larochelle. A mother of three and a resident of Laval for over 25 years, including 20 in Vimont, Liria Serrano, who says she wants to "put safety, integrity and citizen service back at the heart of municipal priorities", has also been involved in her union and on the governing board of her children's elementary school, as well as being a member of the military, a caregiver for her mother and a pioneer in traditionally masculine environments.

"After all these years in the field, and even as a mother and citizen, what I see is that people want neighborhoods where they feel safe, where they can walk, live, breathe... all without worry. For me, safety is not a luxury, it's a basic responsibility of the City, and that's why I want to work with Parti Laval," says the candidate.

A resident of Saint-Bruno for over 20 years and father of two, Stéphane Bélanger, a professional in the aerospace and defense sector, will be running for Parti Laval in the district. A graduate of HEC Montréal in operations management and holder of a diploma in industrial management, Mr. Bélanger, who has also been involved with Hockey Laval and his union, says he wants to help advance concrete issues for his district: "My career has taught me one thing: if you don't get involved, nothing changes. For me, the only logical option, the one that connected with me and spoke to the real priorities of Laval residents, such as safety and local infrastructure, was Parti Laval," says Mr. Bélanger.
