According to them, this budget tabled by Mayor Boyer's party would be \"\u00a0<em>the result of the mayor's costly choices and a vision disconnected from the real needs of the people of Laval<\/em>\u00a0\". Parti Laval also sees this as unjustifiably opaque, given that the mayor recently announced a 1.9% increase in the municipal tax bill, without including the 91$ per vehicle increase in the registration tax. \"\u00a0<em>Every year, the Boyer administration prioritizes major projects, squandering public money in the process, with a heavy impact on the budget. As a result, the real needs of the population are neglected, and increases are presented in a misleading light, concealing the real impact on taxpayers.<\/em>\u00a0We're not going to do anything about it,\" denounced the interim leader of the Parti Laval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An unbearable tax burden for Laval residents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against a backdrop of inflation and economic uncertainty, the opposition is protesting against what it describes as \"&nbsp;<em>irresponsible management of public finances \"<\/em>stating in passing that \"&nbsp;<em>the Boyer administration tries to avoid criticism by taking the public for a ride.<\/em>&nbsp;\"Indeed, at the end of November, Mayor St\u00e9phane Boyer's administration announced that Laval residents would see their tax bill increase by 1.9%. According to Parti Laval, the actual increase in the tax burden would turn out to be much greater, reaching up to 6.2% for single-family residences. \"&nbsp;<em>The mayor is taking the liberty of announcing lower tax increases, while at the same time taking 150$ out of every Laval resident's car. In reality, owners of single-family homes will see their bills rise by more than 220$, nearly triple what the mayor announced. <\/em>\"says Mr. Larochelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Marc-Aur\u00e8le-Fortin municipal councillor, for her part, asserts that the population deserves \".&nbsp;<em>a minimum of transparency and respect<\/em>&nbsp;\". \"&nbsp;<em>This budget shows a total lack of respect for the population. The tax burden imposed by the Boyer administration is unbearable. The population deserves an administration that will manage public finances soundly, so as not to condemn their future with a debt that will reach nearly 1.4 billion in 2027. <\/em>\"adds Ms. Lortie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A disconnected budget<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parti Laval also deplores the lack of investment and measures to meet the real and crying needs of the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\" <em>While spending on luxury projects such as the aquatic complex or the large library explodes, citizens' priorities, such as road safety, infrastructure maintenance, the fight against overflows and adaptation to climate change, are completely ignored. Where are the investments to repair and secure our water infrastructures, hire more police officers, and help the population in these difficult times?
