At a time when residents are receiving their property tax bills and snow-clearing operations are progressing at an alarming pace, we learned this morning that some twenty snow-clearing vehicles \" have been taken off the road by the Boyer administration.<em> faulty<\/em> \"This was a clear demonstration of the inability of Mayor St\u00e9phane Boyer's party to manage. Parti Laval sees this as a clear demonstration of Mayor St\u00e9phane Boyer's party's inability to manage. \"\u00a0<em>The amateurism of the Boyer administration is exposed. Not only are they losing control, but it's the citizens who are paying the price, both on their bills and in their daily lives. Services simply don't deliver. This is unacceptable management of public finances.<\/em>\u00a0We're not going to do anything about it,\" denounced the interim leader of the Parti Laval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mayor Boyer's 150$ vehicle tax: an unjustified tax burden<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the midst of the tax season, the opposition maintains that more and more citizens are asking questions about tax increases and expressing their dissatisfaction with the quality of services offered. In the documents recently sent to the public concerning the tax bills, the Boyer administration claims, once again, to have limited the property tax increase to 1.9 %, adding, in passing, a few justifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parti Laval sees this as a misleading and dishonest presentation, more akin to a communications strategy aimed at promoting Mayor Boyer's party, when in reality Lavallois and Lavallois will see their tax burden increase far beyond what the Boyer administration indicates. In fact, the actual increase in the tax burden would prove to be far greater, reaching up to 6.2% for single-family residences. \" <em>Mayor Boyer has voted 150$ on every Laval resident's vehicle for municipal purposes. In reality, owners of single-family homes will see their bills for municipal expenses rise by more than 220$, almost triple what the mayor claims.<\/em> \"says Mr. Larochelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"&nbsp;<em>It's a hidden tax burden that's hard to justify, especially in the current climate of inflation and economic uncertainty. People find it hard to understand why they have to pay more, when services are deteriorating. A case in point: machinery recently purchased by the city for over $4 million has been left to rot. Meanwhile, snow-clearing operations are far from efficient, and it's the public who's paying the price.<\/em>&nbsp;\"adds Ms. Lortie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the interim leader of Parti Laval, the Boyer administration needs to review its strategy and change course. He deplores the management of the Boyer administration, highlighting the lack of investment and the absence of measures to meet the real and urgent needs of the population, particularly during snow clearance periods. \"&nbsp;<em>As of 2021, this makes no sense. Citizens are seeing their contribution to municipal finances explode and their city's debt reach new heights. Yet the Boyer administration seems to be improvising, and services simply aren't up to scratch.
