Laval, Tuesday, September 15, 2026 \u2013<\/strong> Following a meeting of the Parti Laval board of directors, Louise Lortie, city councillor for Marc-Aur\u00e8le-Fortin, was unanimously chosen as interim leader of the political party. Designated councillor for Parti Laval and Leader of the Official Opposition on the city council since November 2025, Ms. Lortie will now also assume the duties of Leader of the Official Opposition until a permanent leader is chosen to head the party in the 2029 elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"I am truly touched by this display of confidence. It is an honor for me to be able to guide Parti Laval toward the upcoming elections and to put my experience at the service of our members, as well as all the men and women of Laval,\" declared Ms. Lortie.<\/p>\n

A woman of action<\/strong><\/p>\n

City councillor since 2021, Louise Lortie has been involved in Laval public life for many years. Notably, she chaired the Commission scolaire de Laval for over eleven years, where she gained solid governance experience and developed a deep understanding of the issues affecting families, neighborhoods, and the entire Laval region.<\/p>\n

Known for her rigor, attentiveness, and commitment, the new interim leader of Parti Laval favors a grassroots approach and a sustained presence in the community. She wishes to contribute to municipal politics that are closer to the people, where citizens are heard more and where their concerns occupy a central place in decision-making.<\/p>\n

\"Louise has a quality that cannot be learned from books: she is deeply human. She genuinely loves reaching out to people, listening to them, and understanding what they are experiencing. For the board of directors, the choice was obvious. We are very happy that she has chosen to take on this challenge, and we have full confidence in her ability to bring our team together and carry our vision for Laval,\" stated Francine Charbonneau, President of Parti Laval.<\/p>\n

Gather and bring the power of the people closer together<\/strong><\/p>\n

For Louise Lortie, this new phase must allow Parti Laval to continue its work with the same rigor, while actively preparing for the future. Over the coming years, she is committed to keeping a close eye on the administration regarding public finance management, which she considers to be in a \"terrible state,\" and to working to bring power closer to the people, organizations, and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

She also wishes to bring together people from all political backgrounds and open the door to those who are disappointed with the Mouvement lavallois, so that everyone who wants to get involved and make a difference in Laval can find their place within Parti Laval.<\/p>\n

Parti Laval has always embodied another way of doing politics: politics that are closer to the people, attentive to their concerns, more rigorous in the management of public funds, and focused on local services. I am convinced that everywhere in Laval, there are people who share this vision and who wish to contribute, each in their own way, to building something different. Une femme de terrain
<\/strong>Conseill\u00e8re municipale depuis 2021, Louise Lortie est engag\u00e9e dans la vie publique lavalloise depuis de nombreuses
ann\u00e9es. Elle a notamment pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 pendant plus de onze ans la Commission scolaire de Laval, o\u00f9 elle a acquis une
solide exp\u00e9rience en gouvernance et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une connaissance approfondie des enjeux qui touchent les familles,
les quartiers et l\u2019ensemble du territoire lavallois. Reconnue pour sa rigueur, son \u00e9coute et son engagement, la
nouvelle cheffe par int\u00e9rim de Parti Laval privil\u00e9gie une approche terrain et une pr\u00e9sence soutenue dans la
communaut\u00e9. Elle souhaite contribuer \u00e0 une politique municipale plus proche de la population, o\u00f9 les gens sont
davantage entendus et o\u00f9 leurs pr\u00e9occupations occupent une place centrale dans les d\u00e9cisions.
\u00ab Louise poss\u00e8de une qualit\u00e9 qui ne s\u2019apprend pas dans les livres : elle est profond\u00e9ment humaine. Elle aime
sinc\u00e8rement aller vers les gens, les \u00e9couter et comprendre ce qu\u2019ils vivent. Pour le conseil d\u2019administration, le choix
\u00e9tait \u00e9vident. Nous sommes tr\u00e8s heureux qu\u2019elle ait choisi de relever ce d\u00e9fi et nous avons pleinement confiance en

Rassembler et rapprocher le pouvoir des gens
<\/strong>Pour Louise Lortie, cette nouvelle \u00e9tape doit permettre \u00e0 Parti Laval de poursuivre son travail avec la m\u00eame rigueur,
tout en pr\u00e9parant activement la suite. Au cours des prochaines ann\u00e9es, elle s\u2019engage \u00e0 talonner l\u2019administration sur
la gestion des finances publiques, qu\u2019elle juge dans un \u00ab terrible \u00e9tat \u00bb, et \u00e0 travailler \u00e0 rapprocher le pouvoir des gens,
des organismes et des quartiers. Elle souhaite \u00e9galement r\u00e9unir des personnes de tous les horizons politiques et
ouvrir la porte \u00e0 celles et ceux qui sont d\u00e9\u00e7us du Mouvement lavallois, pour que toutes les personnes qui souhaitent
s\u2019impliquer et faire une diff\u00e9rence \u00e0 Laval puissent trouver leur place au sein de Parti Laval.
\u00ab Parti Laval a toujours incarn\u00e9 une autre fa\u00e7on de faire de la politique : une politique plus proche des gens, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coute
de leurs pr\u00e9occupations, plus rigoureuse dans la gestion de l\u2019argent public et ax\u00e9e sur les services de proximit\u00e9. Je
suis convaincue qu\u2019il y a, partout \u00e0 Laval, des personnes qui partagent cette vision et qui souhaitent contribuer,
chacune \u00e0 leur fa\u00e7on, \u00e0 b\u00e2tir quelque chose de diff\u00e9rent. \u00c0 ces personnes, je dis simplement : notre porte est grande
ouverte \u00bb, de conclure Louise Lortie.
